La violencia en Oriente Medio, mas concretamente la de la conflictiva zona de Israel y los territorios palestinos, tiene ya mucho tiempo de presentarse, ha tenido diferentes etapas, siendo la actual sumamente cruda y violenta.
La etapa "contemporanea" se liga a la llamada "primer intifada" que inicio en 1987, fue un movimiento que se gano el respaldo internacional ya que fue un movimiento que nacio de manera casi espontana en los barrios de los llamados "territorios ocupados" siendo caracterizado por la movilizacion social que culmino en los acuerdos de Oslo en 1993 (hay que decir que Arafat "se subio al carro" de la primer intifada tarde, ya que se trat de un movimiento que la OLP no dirigio al principio, como dije antes, fue una cuestion espontanea).

Desgraciadamente para los palestinos, el apoyo internacional ganado a pulso en la primer intifada se vino abajo casi por completo con el apoyo moral que Arafat brindo a Saddam Hussein, un ejemplo de que no era tan buen estadista como luego nos lo quieren pintar.
Sin embargo esto desemboco en los acuerdos de 1993 en Oslo, que fincaban las primeras piedras de la esperada paz.
Mas una serie de problemas que incluian falta de animo negociador de ambas partes y el endurecimiento de las posturas respecto a que territorios ceder y cuando, desemboco en la "segunda intifada" la cual ha sido sumamente violenta, trayendo consigo una radicalizacion de la violencia en pate con la aparicion de un nuevo "fenomeno", los atacantes suicidas (aunque desde 1993 habia atacantes suicidas, estos ataques se agudizan a partir de la "segunda intifada").
Y bueno, el circulo de violencia continua, un atentado, la respuesta israeli que generalmente es fuerte, y asi un ciclo que no parece terminar, hay que decir que del lado israeli se trata de no afectar a inocentes, si se revisa la siguiente estadistica :

Es debatible que tanto de la politica israeli ha tenido que ver con esto, y que tanto se debe a la intransigencia de ambas partes, intelectuales de izquierda como Noam Chomsky desde luego atribuyen toda la responsabilidad a Israel :

Pero muere gente de ambas partes, lo cual me hace pensar que las responsabilidades son compartidas.
Organizaciones radicales como Jihad Islámica y Hamas han continuado la lucha, ya no tanto por revindicacion alguna de tipo territorial, que bien podrian hacerlo por lo menos con las formas que se usaban en la primer intifada, que a mi gusto fueron mas utiles y sobre todo no implicaban tantas muertes (esto es, manifestaciones mas o menos pacificas, el no uso de armas, etc.), Gandhi demostro que es posible lograr acuerdos sin llegar a el uso de la violencia, sino con la idea de mantener un estado permanente de terror, que desde luego sirve a intereses mas bien mezquinos.
Queda un dejo de sospecha cuando uno lee la cantidad de bienes y valores que por ejemplo Arafat dejo a su muerte, no para el uso de su pueblo sino para su familia, cuando uno se entera ademas de las enormes cifras que se manejan a travez de la "Dawa" para mantener y apoyar el terrorismo suicida, entonces uno entiende que la violencia deja muy buenas ganancias.

Resulta entonces, particularmente tragico y de mal gusto que se hable de "los verdaderos asesinos" de una manera digamos torpe, alegre y sobre todo infundada, ya no digamos con el bobo afan de pretender que se estan repitiendo formas usadas en otras epocas.
